Dear Khun Chairat,
My name is Ratthiporn Kalyanamitra or you can call me Pinky. My sponsoring club is the Rotary Club of Bangrak D.3350, Bangkok, Thailand. My host club is the Rotary Club of Port Townsend d.5020, WA, USA. And I wouldn’t get this great opportunity to be an exchange student without your support of my sponsoring club, my host club and also my family too.
I stayed here in Port Townsend, WA, USA 4 months right now. I moved to the second host family last three weeks ago. They’re very nice people. They have 2 sons but they grew up and moved to another town already. I stayed with my host mom and host dad and one big dog. My host dad is a doctor but he retired. Now, he works with the international association for help people and kids in poor countries and my house is green house. My host dad wants to help the Global Warming problem. He put solar panels around the house and it interested me so much in the first time that I saw all of this things. I have very big bedroom and I have my own living room and my own TV too. My host mom likes the music. She play violin and I play piano. I really like it when we play it together and they take care me very well and it makes me feel like this is my own house and that didn’t make me miss my first host family at all.
For school, I’m senior in my school but special senior. They gave senior for me. That’s mean I can join all of senior’s activities but I still have 10th grade classes. Just only one senior class. I’m doing better from the first month but some class still hard for me. Like in CWP (Contemporary World Problem) class. I have a lot of presentation in this class. My first presentation I did it with my first host sister but that time my power point couldn’t work. I had to talk after that and everyone in my class fell to sleep. And I just finished my presentation. This is the biggest project in the 1st semester. I had to dress up in business clothes and talked in front of class 15 minutes. I think almost everyone in my class didn’t understand me half of my presentation but that’s ok because I did my best in this project. I very tried with this project. I spent 1 month with this project. In everyday and every time and now, I’m feeling free!! and last 2 days ago. I got my result from my presentation back and i got full 100 points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm very pround but I still have another project in another class to do too.
I joined the Rotary Youth Exchange trip in my district 5020. We went to California, Disneyland resort, Universal studio, Six flags magic mountain, Hollywood and Sata Monica beach. I had a lot of fun in this trip and I also got friendship and new expeiences too.
Last Tuesday, I had presentation at Rotary’s club meeting about myself and Thailand. I was very excited but everything was going perfect. I danced (Thai dance) and I wear Thai suit. Everyone looked at me and took a lot of picture and everyone liked my presentation. Everyone impressed in my presentation. It made me proud that I can be a good culture’s ambassador and I was very proud that I was born in very great and beautiful country in the world.
I’m very glad that the 1st semester is nearly end. The time running so fast. I can’t believe that I stayed here 4 months right now and I think I don’t want to go home for a little bit.:)
And I want to say thank you to Rotary again for giving me this opportunities to be an exchange student. I will do my best to share our culture with another country and also absorb theirs.
